About the artist: Caragh

My name is Caragh. I am a South African born New Zealander who picked up a camera at the age of 13. My photography journey began by starting a greeting card company with photos I took of flowers and raindrops on leaves in my neighbourhood. I quickly realised however how much portraiture interested me. My acute interest in people; their stories, the memories behind their eyes, the way human bodies can create shape, the timelessness of faces. So, at about 15 I began nurturing that interest. Now, 11 years later, I am lucky enough to create art with people every day. My passion for people has allows me to not only create beautiful photographs of people but to document humanitarian efforts with charities like Project Hiu; in which I am tasked with telling the story of Madison Stewarts efforts to change a shark fishing culture to one of tourism and community enrichment. The places my camera has taken me, the people I’ve been able to meet and lives I have been able to make a positive impact on, is quite possibly the best part of what I do. It’s more than photography; its a medium to freeze time and tell a story through images.

Videography came later to me; my style is very much inspired by my parents old camcorder videos and the beauty of creating a world to dive into even just for a minute or two. I am proud to say that I have been able to create video from vintage video campaigns to documentaries in my career.

My social media management career began 5 years ago as I found my physchology and 3/4 of a business degree came in handy with creating online presence for clients that are more than just brands. I noticed that people didn’t connect with being sold to anymore; they connected to the story of a brand. As someone who is passionate about taking my own audience along for the ride, it felt natural to help other business owners do the same.

This business is more than a business to me. Its a life, a childhood dream and a vehicle for impact. Creating art and connecting with people is what I do. I would love to create art with you.
